A Year of Card Techniques - (February - So Sketchy)

Guess what? It's THAT time of month again... No... not THAT time... THIS time!!!! It's the day we have our Monthly Year of Card Techniques (month TWO!), and today, we are doing...
SKETCHES!!!

I had a huge problem... Blogger isn't being nice. They seriously need to update their app. Not only am I getting a message from Apple "Your phone will run slow. This app needs to update." Seriously? Get with the times. But... I kept getting kicked out. And my phone wasn't working (to upload pics)... and then...

I get this... WTH???

Anyway... over it now (and still fuming...)
Here's our sketch! (Cute, huh?)
In cleaning my craft room, I found these little spider dies and decided to break open the package and finally DO something with them... Woohoo! I did a lot of dry embossing this time around... This one is chalked afterwards.
Then... I know! I can't believe it either!!! I did a second card!
and again dry embossed... and used another little die set I found... It's a miracle what you can find if you clean your craft room!!!!

Whelp... Here ya have it! Check out the rest of the gals... and see you next month! Up next is... Jodie!

You know... I like basic, simple things. And I happen to L-O-V-E craft paper (the look of it)! This... is what I started with.

It's TIME to make Christmas CARDS!!!!

Remember MISTI? She's my new best friend. She makes all those off-centered or imperfect cards that I used to make look like...
THIS!!!!
And then I had to drag out CB... She hasn't played in a while (Cuttlebug, people... Not an actual person!!!)
And I cranked through over 30 times! Let's get real... I lost count...
I thought the edges needed a little deco... So I cropped them with one of my Crop-A-Dile Corner Chompers. (This one is "photo.") Obviously, I did the same with the craft cards, too...
And Santa came a little early and brought me these Spectrum Noire Sparkle Markers (I call my UPS driver Santa... even though "I" pay for it... YES! I ordered them off HSN...) They still came BEFORE Christmas and in time for my Christmas Cards!
Aren't they so pretty? (I used clear. Actually I had my friend pretty them up while I worked a swim meet... I think she had fun!)
So pretty! Simple, too! I love the look!

And there you have it! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
Up next is Alicia, who has something magical for you, as well!

Now on with the projects.

This month it's all about the see through stuff...vellum and acetate. Because America needs transparency... (that's as political as I'll post here... and yes, I voted, but not for either of the circus clowns...)
If you really REALLY look closely, you will see a beautiful piece of vellum, pearly off-white with gold-toned roses. Look closer, I swear... it's there!
I cut a small piece of it with my handy-dandy new (see below) guillotine trimmer dunno why... but that word "guillotine" always makes me picture Marie Antoinette in my head... Yikes! then ran it through the Cuttlebug in this beautiful new embossing folder. (I love it... and it's quite perfect for weddings, showers, life...)
Didn't it just turn out GORGEOUS????? Um...
... maybe not so much. See that little tear? Remember... vellum is tender (and see through). Don't use it to make clothing!

The wedding/shower colors are mint and gold. Gold???? Does that even go together???? Regardless of what I believe think, I found this wonderful set of chalk colors at the Scrapbook Expo where I spent WAY more $$$ than I should have but totally rationalized it by telling myself (and my other self... you know, the one that talks back to you when you're doing something wrong... right?) that I'd totally just make sure I used everything I bought... this time...  Uh huh... yeah...
Gold? Um... I didn't have much in the way of gold, except this too thick ribbon and some glitter. And so... I cut it lengthwise...
I swear... in my hand, these misted flowers just don't match that minty color above it... They really are much brighter in person. Tricks of the camera, ma friend... Tricks, I say!
Threw it all together and put a bow on it. Geeze! It really is much lighter and prettier in person, folks. This looks totally drab. Cute. But drab.
A little bit closer... See the form of the flowers? Yep. I learned that at the Expo, too. Took a class, I did! And swore I'd use those techniques SOMEWHERE...
I like the way it turned out. Unless I totally break out that camera that's been sitting in the box for a couple of years maybe one day soon I'll get better, more worthy pics... I'm NOT upgrading to the iPhone7! It's just not in my scope of thought yet. I'll wait for a better one...

Hope you love the card... I do!!!!!

We really love feedback, so please leave a comment on each of the blogs in today's hop. Up next? Kim!!!!! Who ALWAYS has a ton of awesomeness to share! Today, your hop destinations are:

12 Days of Christmas Blog Hop (Day Twelve)

Welcome back to the 12 Days of Christmas Blog Hop (Day Twelve - the last day of the hop)! This hop is taking place  November 24th through December 5th. Each of us will be posting something Christmas related each and every day at 8:00am, Eastern time (so for my Pacific Time Zone peeps like me!... that's 5am... But don't worry, you can sleep in, and we'll all be here waiting for you, too!)... for 12 WHOLE DAYS! Let us inspire you to finish up that layout, make some special Christmas cards, or wrap that gift in a fun and festive way. If you've already started, you probably came from Barbara. She always has something great to share, doesn't she? Let's continue this 12-day crafting party... after today, that's it until next year but feel free to revisit all of our hoppers' blogs over and over again!

Alrighty now and again...  I've said in Day One, I'm starting my portion of the hop with paper things. Things that are simple and easy to do. I've strayed quite a bit... going in all sorts of directions. But one thing has always been on point... I can always ADD paper to whatever I've shown you. Hahaha. Stretching it enough? Just thought I'd keep you on your toes, as I'm sure it was starting to read/sound like a spiel. As with Day Two,  Day Three,  Day Four, Day Five, Day Six, Day Seven, Day Eight, Day Nine, Day Ten, and Day Eleven (Yes... you got it... today is the last day. So sad...)... We are still with the Christmas theme meaning all things Christmas! The hop is entitled "12 Days of Christmas," is it not? and still again with simple [paper] crafts. Read: It's another simple card.

Today, on the last day... I give you the ugliest card ever made. My kid likes it. Started with a white A2 card. And Chomped the corners because I love a little decorative touch.
Inked up an embossing folder and put it through.
Put some finishing Stickles and Pearls on it.
And that's it.
By the way... Be sure to "brayer" down your washi tape... as you saw in my previous card, I used washi tape. Otherwise, this happens:

It was great hopping along with you these last twelve days. Please come back again.

Oh but... Don't totally go! There is more in store for you, so hop along and please comment on each and everybody. 'Cause you know we all love a little love... And BE SURE to check out the "other" Lisa, as she's the one with all the blog candy and sponsor info! Have a great time, and don't forget to come back another time for something else!

Paper Hoarders Design Team Challenge: What Are YOU Thankful For?

I had to think a lot about this, and try to focus on one or two things... as I'm thankful for a lot.

Thankfully, I didn't have to think to hard, because... as I was perusing through my stash of Cuttlebug folders, I came across one that had LOTS of things to be thankful for on it! HA! (You'll see in a sec...)

I've been trying to utilize my stash, so I remembered this Debbie Mumm stack that I bought several years ago (unlike others, I rarely buy stacks...) and so, I cut out the stacked pumpkins. They are so sparkly and awesome. I just HAD to use them.

Then I ran some orange cardstock through a Pumpkin Cuttlebug embossing folder, inked up the Lots to Be Thankful For (don't really know the name of the folder, but that's what I'm gonna call it...) Cuttlebug folder with Walnut Stain Distress Ink (to make the words POP!), then ran some vellum through it.

I sprayed the vellum with a spray adhesive by 3M (love it!!! it SOOO doesn't show!), and attached it to my card; then attached my stacked pumpkins with a little ATG love, added the "Give Thanks" ribbon (another stash-y item), and called it a day.

And so Provo Craft did something right! They invented something that states ALL the things I'm thankful for when Autumn comes... well... if it ever comes, HERE, in Southern California...

Unfortunately, you can't really see the pumpkin embossing, but that's ok. It still gives it a little dimension.

Now... to see other peeps who are thankful, please check out Ms. Tanya's blog... and if you want to, let me know that YOU want to be a Paper Hoarder, too! We'll sign you up!

Lastly... join us for the challenge. What are YOU thankful for? Thanks for looking!

It's Monday Mojo with Create-A-Critter!

Yes, Happy August, folks! Can you believe it’s already here? Our summer is almost at an end, the kids go back to school next week!!! I am sooo not ready for that. There are sooo many things I didn’t do, that I wanted to. And so much sun to enjoy! But alas! All good things must come to an end. So… what’s better than a birthday card to cheer up the end-o-summer blues?

That’s right! The Queen of My Craftroom Design Team did a Create-A-Critter (CAC) project. And yes… here’s mine!
I was going to a birthday party (taking my 6-year-old so I had an excuse to get an invite... hee, hee!), and the birthday girl (who was turning ONE!) happens to affectionately be called "Baby Bear." Ah ha! I said!!! What better cartridge than to break out my CAC cart and whip out a cutie patootie bear! Woohoo! and the fun began...
I don't quite remember the height, but I believe it was around 4", as the card (*gasp*!) I made twice the size I usually do. That's right... it wasn't the typical A2 (4 1/4 x 5 1/2, folded in half), it was a whole wonkin' 8 1/2 x 11, folded in half! Yes, I went big today! Hey!

The layers were fun, though. She's a little bit darkish (Thank you, California Sun!), so I made her bear dark, as well... with a Stickled eyes, nose and smile. I inked the blush on the cheeks (what's a baby bear with out a little messy-ness?) and popped a cute present in her hand.
Her balloon friend, I cut the base piece twice. Once in dark grey, and once in neon pink. I didn't want the nose and inside-ear parts to be dark, and I didn't want the string to be pink. And so... I played with the pieces, snipping them and placing them where I wanted them. It worked out just perfect for me. Then, I inked the sides and stuff with a little more blush ink.
The "Happy Birthday" sentiment I took from another cartridge. Uh... I was working quickly and really don't remember which one... but I cut it out in a nice pastel pink to match the centers of the flowers (in the background paper) and passed it through Swiss Dots on the Cuttlebug. The "1st" I welded together (just a little bit), glittered it up with some Stickles and slightly pop-dotted it on top.
And... my final product once again. This went together really fast, with my ATG gun and my Zig 2-way Glue. I wouldn't have gotten anywhere without them. Thanks for stopping by, and YOU, too! can join in the fun and join in the challenges. Just pop in to Queen of My Craftroom, see what all of the other DT members have done, and add YOUR linkie! Toodles!

Cuttlebug Spot Challenge #17: Love Word

Here's my take on the Challenge over at The Cuttlebug Spot. The challenge was to use the word "Love" on a card. I used the Cuttlebug (Divine Swirls) to emboss the foil cutout.
The hearts embossing folder adorns the background, as well as Sakura's Jelly Roll (glitter red) to emphasize the hearts. Then the embossed "with love" border sits underneath a Threading Water cut border.

I liked it, and I hope my hubby will, too... next Saturday. It's coming soon! Toodles for now! lisa
