Now on with the projects.

Okey dokey... Me.  First week back at work. Back at school work. Back at taking a kid to/from school. Wow. Overwhelming. But... it was a good week. And now it's the weekend... and I can totally pretend it's still summer and sleep in... maybe...

But LAST week... I was working on watching these...

trying all different ways with lots of different inks! and using what I already had instead of "re-inkers". I'm on a budget you know... school employees don't get paid during summer vacation! I ended up using Adirondack Alcohol Inks... because they seemed to work the best.
I used this awesome "Citrus" but it looks totally green to me, and in my opinion... citrus would be more yellows and lemons, right? (think lemon and orange.) and this really cool blue.
dotted the folded baby wipe all down... it almost looks like one of those comparison commercials for diapers! hee, hee!
and streaked it across my paper...
See the fold? And how it all goes?
and yep... I made a plaid pattern like the video... My advice? start the streaking OFF the paper and pull across. That way, there will not be the "blob" affect at the base of the paper.

So let's segue yep. it's a word. I even checked my spelling! over to another way... where I dropped it all over the place in a messy psych ink blot pad.
and I used that impromptu pad to blot...
a Christmas stamp! Christmas in July! Wouldn't ya know! Oh shoot! It's August already!!! Ugh!!!
and... stamped it onto clean white cardstock. Um... no... now you know why I went with the plaid'ish way... Back to my other attempts!
(just thought you might want to see the soaked-through underside of the plaid version!)
Matting the pretty plaid on a bluish vertical card and writing on the card "Just a Note," and sprinkling this bright blue embossing powder all over the writing... totally loving the color, too!
With heat applied and the card a tad warped...
I love how the colors "pop" out! LOVE!!!
And voila! Not the professional finish I was looking for... It turned out quite well... You should try it sometime! Did you have as much fun with the end of your summer days?

Up next is Kim! Today's lineup in case you get "wiped" away (so you can be sure to visit everyone!):

  1. You always crack me up . . . and yes, I do have to agree with you. That is green! But it's a great citrus green! Love your plaid look.

  2. LOL, Lisa, I learned some of the same lessons as you did. You'll see I have blobs on my plaid, too. I would have thought to emboss over it (after I did all that work). What a clever idea and you had embossing powder to match perfectly! That looks green to me...maybe it was over ripe citrus! As always, I enjoy hopping with you and look forward to seeing what you create each month.

  3. I think blobbing was an issue with me too ... LOL on paper and especially on me!....Oh well. Great job Lisa and interesting enough you tried it with alcohol inks. I always thought due to the quick drying time they wont work, but you made it work. Funny, it seems we all had multiple tries and errors with this technique. Love to hop with you each month and can't wait too see what you come up with next time.

  9. The casualness of your plaid is fun. My mind is racing in the ideas of color combos for this plaid approach.
